The Association is recruiting Subject Matter Expert (SME) Trainers to share their knowledge, experience, and practical expertise with professionals throughout California. If you have expertise related to the work of Public Administrators, Public Guardians, Public Conservators, County Counsel, or other related areas, we encourage you to apply.
Who Can Apply?
We welcome applications from:
- CA PA|PG|PC Association Members
- County Counsels and associated affiliates
- Other qualified subject matter experts with relevant professional experience
This recruitment is intended for new CA PA|PG|PC trainers and individuals who have not trained for the Association since 2023.

New to Training? No Problem!
You don’t have to be an experienced trainer to apply. We are looking for professionals with valuable field experience who are willing to share what they know. CA PA|PG|PC can provide guidance as you develop your training, and new trainers may have opportunities to:
- Co-train with a colleague
- Partner with an experienced trainer
- Receive guidance from the Training Manager

What Could You Train On?
Training topics may include, but are not limited to:
- Conservatorship assessments and case management
- Interviewing techniques and working with cognitively impaired individuals
- Court accountings, documentation, inventory, and appraisal
- LPS conservatorships and Murphy Conservatorships
- Public benefits, including Medi-Cal, Medicare, and SSI
- Next-of-kin and cursory searches
- Selling real and personal property
- Legislative and regulatory changes, including CARE Court and SB 43
- Ethics and professional responsibilities
- Supervision, risk management, and workload management
- PA|PG|PC Basics and Induction Academy topics
Have another topic in mind? We want to hear it! Your proposed training does not need to fit within the examples above.
Application Process
Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis with the process broken down below.
- Complete the Trainer Application: Tell us about your experience, areas of expertise, proposed training topics, and interest in becoming a trainer.
- Submit Supporting Materials: Applicants are recommended to also provide a short bio, CV/résumé, up to two reference letters, and optional training samples such as presentation slides or video by sending materials to info@capapgpc.org.
- Training Committee Review: The CA PA|PG|PC Training Committee will review applications and may contact applicants for additional information.
- Trainer Selection: Selected applicants will be added to the Association’s pool of available trainers and may be considered for future training opportunities based on subject matter, member needs, scheduling, and available funding.
Applications will be evaluated based on factors such as professional experience, subject matter expertise, proposed topics, presentation experience, references, and optional training materials.
Before You Apply
If you are employed by a county or other public agency, you may need to obtain approval or authorization from your employer before serving as a CA PA|PG|PC trainer or accepting a trainer stipend or other compensation.
Obtaining any required employer or county approvals is the responsibility of the trainer. CA PA|PG|PC is not responsible for securing these permissions on behalf of trainers.
